Mumbai: The anticipation of Ram Gopal Varma's remake of classic Sholay was heightened with the film maker unveiling the look of an aged, greying 'Gabbar Singh' (villain character in the film), to be essayed by superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
At the function to unveil the look, Bachchan said, "We are not trying to set up a competition here. This film is only Ram Gopal Varma's interpretation of Sholay and as an actor, it is
my duty to depict that vision. We hope we can live up to the expectations of the audience and directors."
In the remake, Gabbar Singh is shown much more aged than the original movie, with a scar across the nose, Bachchan's trademark white beard and shabbily dressed in boots and a military shirt.
The film has been on floor for the last three days and is being produced by Manmohan Shetty's Adlabs and directed by Varma.
