BANGALORE:  In a desperate attempt to have the roads repaired on the Jnana Bharathi campus, Registrar Dr B C Mylarappa has written to Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner M K Shankarlinge Gowda to provide immediate respite to commuters and students alike. In a letter dated December 2, Dr Mylarappa wrote: “The roads in Jnana Bharathi are connected to the neighbouring layouts. Most of the vehicles plying on these roads are public vehicles. As is, the roads are very bad. With constant flow of traffic, including heavy vehicles such as buses, the condition is worsening every day.”He further stated that it would take time for the BBMP to seek formal nod from the State government to start complete work in Jnana Bharathi.  As an adhoc arrangement, Dr Mylarappa proposed temporary filling up of potholes. “The Palike may take a while to get permission from the government for repair works. In the interest of the University and the common public, the Palike can fill the potholes with tar as an interim arrangement,” wrote Dr Mylarappa. BBMP’s original action plan is to convert the main road cutting through the campus  between Outer Ring Road (Ullal Road Junction) and the Women’s Hostel (about 1.1 km)  into a four-lane road. Reconstructing the University Administrative Office - Nagarabhavi and University Library Mariyappanapalya  roads.
