Cabinet OKs TN Upper House Kill Bill

CHENNAI: The Centre on Thursday approved a proposal to negate the Bill for creation of Tamil Nadu Legislative Council. The meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh approved the proposal of the Home Ministry for the purpose. The Centre had already scheduled to introduce the Bill in the current session of Parliament, which is to start on April 24 after recess. The new AIADMK government led by J Jayalalithaa shelved the decision of the earlier DMK government to revive the upper chamber.
