Call to ensure security of Ayyappa devotees

KOCHI: The Hindu Aikya Vedi has demanded the state government to ensure the security of Ayyappa devotees coming from other states.In a statement issued on Wednesday, Hindu Aikya Vedi general secretary Kummanam Rajasekharan said there were widespread complaints about attacks on Ayyappa devotees. “On Tuesday, there were attacks on the vehicles of devotees in Pathanamthitta. The flow of devotees through Cumbam, Theni and Kumily has been stopped. “There are widespread rumours in Tamil Nadu that devotees would be attacked. Keeping in mind the situation, the Chief Minister should ensure the security of devotees,” he said.Rajasekharan said the issue between the thanthri and Travancore Devaswom Board should be resolved through talks.
