BANGALORE: Barely a day after Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that all the potholes in the city would be repaired before January 15, commuters near Lalbagh West Gate witnessed a road caving in, ironically which did not qualify to be a pothole. Motorists informed that early on Sunday, part of the road in front of Kuvempu statue was caved in. The hole measuring nearly 12/4 and over 8 feet in depth, caused severe traffic jams. The traffic police had to divert traffic to clear the long standing weekend congestion. The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), on the other hand claimed that the hole could have been caused due to the high water tables in the area. Treading cautiously, they asserted that they are yet to ascertain the actual cause for the same. Officials said that they would start filling up the roads from Monday. The police on the other hand are apprehensive over the job, as Monday means more congestion. They said that since the road was caved in on Sunday, it was easy to manage traffic.
