HYDERABAD: The Central Bureau of Investigation is all set to file a petition in the High Court for a direction for cancellation of bail granted by the CBI court to senior IAS officer Y Srilakshmi in the mining scam. The CBI’s chargesheet filed two days ago charges the officer with involvement in the allocation of the Anthar Gangamma Konda (AGK) to the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) owned by former Karnataka minister and mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy and his brother-in-law BV Srinivas Reddy for mining iron ore violating the central government’s guidelines.Sources said that the charge sheet speaks about how she played a key role in sanctioning AGK mining area to OMCdirections. The CBI devoted 15 pages in the 186-page chargesheet to Srilakshmi’s role in the scam though the CBI had not mentioned her name in the list of the accused in its preliminary charge-sheet.CBI officials, who tried to establish Srilakshmi’s criminal conspiracy with Janardhan Reddy and APMDC former vice- chairman and managing director Rajagopal, are also busy preparing a supplementary charge-sheet against Srilakshmi and a retired bureaucrat in the case. The CBI alleges that the public servant cheated the government and helped the OMC secure the mining lease and export 60 lakh tonnes of iron ore worth `4,500 crore. The CBI has already approached the Centre for permission to prosecute Srilakshmi by including her in the charge sheet. The Special CBI Court had, on December 2, granted conditional bail to Srilakshmi considering her submission that she had been examined and interrogated after her arrest by the CBI, and considering that the petitioner was a woman and not keeping good health, etc.
