Hyderabad: Ten days after taking oath, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday took charge of his office.

Naidu took charge at the camp office at Lakeview Guest House near Raj Bhavan in the presence of his cabinet colleagues.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief signed a few files relating to the decisions taken at the first cabinet meeting at Visakhapatnam last week.

Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, ministers Y. Ramakrishnudu, P. Narayna, G. Srinivasa Rao and others greeted Naidu.

As the chief minister's office at the state secretariat is not yet ready, Naidu took charge at the camp office.

The TDP leader, who had taken oath along with 19 ministers at a public ceremony near Guntur on June 8, later visited the state secretariat, where employees accorded him a warm welcome.

Speaking on the occasion, Naidu sought the cooperation of the employees for his vision to develop Andhra Pradesh on par with Singapore.

He alleged that injustice was done to Andhra Pradesh as the previous UPA central government did not follow the proper procedure in bifurcation and Andhra was left without a state capital. He hoped that the NDA government will provide level-playing field.

Naidu said it was during his rule that Hyderabad got global recognition and because of the efforts made by him Telangana now has a surplus budget.

The chief minister assured the employees that the government will do justice to them.

The secretariat employees announced their two-day wages as contribution for building the new state capital. A woman employee donated her four gold bangles for the purpose.

Meanwhile, Naidu paid tributes to TDP founder and his father-in-law N.T. Rama Rao at NTR Ghat by the edge of Hussain Sagar lake. He also attended the first session of the state assembly and took oath as its member.

Naidu is the first chief minister of Andhra Pradesh after separate Telangana state was carved out. The 64-year-old also served as the chief minister of undivided state for nearly a decade.
