Close Shave for 12 as Trawlers Capsize

BALASORE: Twelve crew members of two trawlers narrowly escaped after their vessels capsized in the Budhabalanga river near Balaramgadi fishing base in Balasore district on Monday. They were rescued by the local fishermen. Sources said the mishap occurred when the drivers were anchoring the fishing vessels. The current in the river was so high that one vessel developed cracks and water entered it. A trawler owner Niranjan Das said altogether 13 persons were in the capsized vessels. While seven managed to swim to mainland, six were missing for couple of hours. The Balaramgadi trawler owners’ association pressed six trawlers for search operation.
