CNN, CNN-IBN to launch Eye on India
CNN International along with CNN-IBN will launch a special series, Eye on India on 60 years of India's independence.

New Delhi: Leading news channel CNN International is set to celebrate 60 years of India's independence through a special series called Eye on India.

The programme will focus on the journey India has traversed since 1947 and how the country, said to be the world's oldest civilisation, is today regarded as the world's youngest economy.

Eye on India stresses that India's strength lies in its young population who has the power to unleash its real potential.

"Through this programme we want to showcase India and its spirit not just to the Indians but to the global audience," Rena Golden, senior vice president of CNN International, told a press conference on Tuesday.

"We have tried to extensively cover issues such as caste challenges, reservation and sense of pride through the eyes of its young demographics," Golden added.

The weeklong series, which has been co-produced with its Indian partner CNN-IBN, will be telecast on March 18, March 21, March 23 and March 24.

"To be India's window to the world has always been our ambition and through this programme we want to portray how truly unique India is," said editor-in-chief, CNN-IBN, Rajdeep Sardesai.

The company, as a part of its marketing programme, will organise road shows through specially branded vehicles that will travel around Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

It will also encourage the youth to participate and express their views on various socio-economic issues.
