Bangalore: Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik has admitted that he too was part of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement during the demolition of Babri Masjid. Muthalik's confession comes after the Cobrapost sting operation which claims that Babri Masjid demolition was planned and that senior BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders were aware of the plan.
"It is the naked truth that the Sangh Parivar has done karseva. I was also a part of the movement. It was decided that the temple will be build right there," Muthalik told CNN-IBN.
Muthalik, however, denied that the incident was a planned one. "The demolition was a result of the anger of Ram bhakts. There was no planning," he said. Muthalik, who was part of the RSS in 1992, said he didn't know what was going on in the minds of the senior leaders.
But he attacked the BJP and the Sangh Parivar for distancing themselves from the revelations of the Cobrapost sting operation. "Why are BJP and Sangh Parivar shying away from accepting this?" Muthalik demanded. "BJP must admit that they have done it. I am proud of it. BJP too should be proud to say this," Muthalik said.
The sting contents, according to Muthalik, could damage the BJP's poll prospects.
The controversial Hindutva leader who was responsible for the infamous attack on women at a pub in Mangalore in January 2009 was disowned by the BJP within hours of his induction two week back. He is now determined to take on the party in the Lok Sabha elections.
Muthalik is contesting as an independent candidate from two constituencies - from Bangalore South against BJP's HN Ananth Kumar and from Dharwad against Prahlad Joshi.
His entry and exit from the BJP received much criticism forcing the party to go back on its decision.
