College teachers hold demonstration

BHUBANESWAR: Thousands of college teachers and employees under the banner of 448 Government-aided College Block Grant Teachers’ and Employees’ Coordination Committee staged a demonstration in front of the Assembly here on Monday demanding full grant-in-aid instead of block grant.The agitating teachers and employees took out a rally from the Station Square to the Lower PMG Square before holding the demonstration.A seven-member delegation of the committee, led by advisor Anant Charan Acharya, met Higher Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra and presented their demands. The Minister assured the delegation that the Government would consider their demands sympathetically.Earlier, Biju Yuva Janata Dal president Sanjay Dasburma and other BJD leaders addressed the teachers. They assured the block grant teachers and employees that their demands would be taken up.
