In the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) general body meeting it was decided that the party will fight the upcoming Assembly election on its own and not take the support of any other party, including the JD (S).
After chairing the meeting the KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar said that the state party would send its observers to all the districts to shortlist candidates to contest the Assembly elections.
As many as six resolutions were passed in meeting pertaining to the present political situation in the state, failure of the state government in implementing MGNREGA and drought relief works and ignoring several civic problems in the Bruhath Bangalore Mahanagara Palike. A resolution complimenting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for having taken initiatives to confer special status to the Hyderabad-Karnataka region in the state was adopted.
The state government was also requested to take measures to utilise the allocation of over 177 tmc ft water by the second tribunal of the Krishna River Water Dispute in 2010. “The GB has passed a censure motion on the failure of the state government in implementing both MGNREGA and drought relief works in the state,” he said. Several party leaders, including Opposition leader in state Assembly Siddaramaiah addressed the gathering. Four Union minister from the state did not attend the meeting as they had prior commitments.
