HYDERABAD: Based on the direction given by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court, the ACB officials on Tuesday registered an FIR against a Law Officer of Andhra Pradesh Industrial and Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) for allegedly committing various financial irregularities. The petitioner Pasham Krishna Reddy alleged that the then APIIC managing director BP Acharya had appointed  Rashmi Abhi Chandani as Law Officer for APIIC in violation of rules. According to him, Acharya allegedly overruled adverse recommendations  made by the selection committee which includes Justice Reddyappa against the selection of Chandani. She was earlier associated with Insurance Regulatory Development Authority (IRDA) as an assistant director. Krishna Reddy's advocate Ranga Rao told Express that in the capacity of a Law Officer, Chandani had bought a plot in Jeedimetla which was developed by APIIC under the name of Jeedimetla Industrial Housing Colony (JIHC). "The actual market price was Rs 12,000 per square yard but she bought it for a lesser price of Rs 6,000. Though she allegedly owns properties in Attapur and other places she declared that she does not own any property and became eligible for buying a plot in JIHC," Ranga Rao said. Similarly, he also alleged that the tainted Law Officer had drawn commissions illegally by collecting a certain percentage out of the fee paid to senior advocates, who were engaged to argue on behalf of APIIC. Based on the court direction, the ACB director general registered cases under sections 7, 11 and 13 of Prevention of Corruption Act besides sections 409 and 420 of Indian Penal Code.
