Dalit sisters' gangrape case: Bareilly Divisional Commissioner removed from post

Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday removed Bareilly Divisional Commissioner Ajay Kumar Singh from his post, placing him on the wait list, an official said here.

"Singh has been put on the wait list and Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare, K Ravindranayak has been posted in his place," he said.

However, no reason was specified behind the reshuffle, but Badaun district, where two teenaged dalit girls were gangraped and hanged recently, comes under Bareilly division and the officer has allegedly been blamed for laxity, official sources said.
