The Anti Gang Squad (AGS) of the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has apprehended Sumit Dagar, wanted in multiple heinous crimes, including armed robbery and murder. Dagar who was absconding since 2022, was arrested from his hideout in Delhi’s Rohini area.

The proclaimed criminal was involved in a high-profile armed robbery which took place on December 1, 2022, at Mahadev Jewellers in Kothapet, Hyderabad. Along with his associates, Dagar forcibly entered the jewelry shop, fired at the staff, and looted approximately 4 kilograms of gold and cash. The incident left one jeweler severely injured.

The pursuit of Dagar spanned across multiple states, with Telangana Police seeking assistance from the Delhi Police Crime Branch due to his links in the national capital. Despite efforts to evade capture and changing his location frequently, the police acted on a tip-off and conducted a raid in Rohini. Dagar attempted to resist arrest, but the team successfully apprehended him after employing necessary force to gain access to his hideout.

During interrogation, the offender revealed his criminal history, including his involvement in multiple cases of murder, armed robbery, and possession of illegal firearms. The activities of the accused spanned over various regions of Delhi and Telangana, where he operated with a network of his associates. Despite being declared a proclaimed offender in one case, he continued to evade authorities by frequently changing his hideouts and living arrangements.

He further revealed that he was granted parole during the COVID-19 pandemic but failed to surrender to authorities. Instead, he continued his criminal activities, culminating in the sensational gold robbery in Telangana.

Additionally, Dagar was also implicated in a murder case traced back to March 1, 2019, at PS Bindapur, Delhi. In this case, he and his accomplices fatally shot Imran during a dispute, stemming from longstanding personal rivalries.
