New Delhi: Delhi Police on Monday released the picture of Rajkumar, a suspect in the baby Falak case. While releasing the picture the police claimed definite leads about the people who had kidnapped two-year-old Falak and later abandoned her.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chhaya Sharma said that Rajkumar's in-laws have been traced to Mumbai and police teams were trying to apprehend him. Rajkumar was traced to his in-laws' house but he fled after he was tipped off.

Sharma said that a woman named Lakshmi was being questioned in the case and the police have been trying to verify her statements with that of the minor girl who had admitted Falak to AIIMS.

"We have not as of yet arrested (her). But we are trying to find out from her, we are questioning her," said Sharma.

Meanwhile, baby Falak's condition worsened on Monday and she had to be operated upon. The two-year-old underwent a second brain surgery on Monday morning and has been put back on ventilator.

The surgery became necessary after fluid entered her brain.

The teenaged girl, who was looking after Falak when her boyfriend left the girl with her, got the baby admitted to AIIMs in a badly battered condition.

A senior police official claimed one Munni along with her daughter had come to Laxmi's house in September 2011 claiming that her husband has abandoned them.

Laxmi asked her to stay in her house. According to a senior police official Munni disappeared from Laxmi's house after 20 days leaving the child there.

"Laxmi then gave the child to Manoj who entrusted the girl with Rajkumar who was living with the teenaged girl who allegedly beat the baby girl," the official said.

Rajkumar allegedly took the child to his house in November 2011 but his wife refused to keep the child.

"It was during the time Rajkumar met the teenager. He then started living with the teenager and the girl. Mid-January, he left for Mumbai to get his physically- challenged son treated. The teenager was taking care of the baby. It appears that she could not take proper care of the child and out of frustration she assaulted her physically," the official said.
