Bengaluru: Scores of people in Bengaluru attended Vishwa Hindu Parishad's Janaagraha Sabha, a gathering to demand the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. The event was earlier scheduled to be held on November 25, but was postponed following the death of actor-politician Ambareesh.
The sabha was organised at the National College ground in Bengaluru, where members of several right-wing outfits such as Bajrang Dal, RSS and Yuvamorcha were present.
"Building of Ram Temple may not be of priority for the Supreme Court. But for us, it is. Several Ram devotees are present here today. We need not wait for the court verdict. The Centre must bring out an ordinance to build Ram temple," said Milind Parande, general secretary of the VHP.
People from different walks of life, irrespective of affiliation to the right wing groups, also participated in the meeting. "The Supreme Court has failed to protect the beliefs of the people. We saw that with the Sabarimala case also. Let the Centre bring an ordinance now," said Guruprasad, an IT employee.
"There are archaeological evidence that a temple existed there. How difficult is it then to go by it and build a temple? We have waited for these many years," said Ravikumar, another IT employee.
The Janaagraha Sabha was also held in Udupi where members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bhajrangdal took out processions across the city.
Speaking at the Janaagraha Sabha, Shobha Karandlaje, the BJP MP from Karnataka has said, "First I am a Ram devotee, then a MP."
"Governments that have come to power in the name of secularism have not allowed the construction of the Ram temple. Modi government is trying to begin Ram temple construction," she said.
Addressing the crowd gathered for the meeting in Udupi, Shobha Karandlaje said that she and several other devotees are anxious about the Supreme Court verdict that is to come.
"You have requested to bring out an ordinance. This will be brought to the notice of the Prime Minister," she added.
Shobha Karandlaje is a member of Lok Sabha from the Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency.
The Janaagraha Sabha held in Udupi, Bagalkote and Bengaluru on Sunday was witness to similar sentiments. Seers, VHP and RSS leaders, participants, including members and non-members of the rightwing outfits, rooted for the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed land of Ayodhya through an ordinance, refusing to wait for the court's verdict.
