Los Angeles: Actress Jennifer Lawrence, one of the youngest actresses to win an Oscar, says she never decided to be a role model for youngsters, it just happened.
"I don't think you make the decision to be a role model, I definitely didn't," Lawrence said at the world premiere of her forthcoming movie 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' in London, read a statement.
"It's something that just happens when you're in the spotlight and you have all these people looking at you and listening to what you're saying, so you have to decide - 'What do I want the younger generation to hear?'," added the 23-year-old who won Oscar for romantic comedy 'Silver Linings Playbook'.
The actress believes Katniss, her character in 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire', is a 'great role model'.
"She is strong and she is not afraid to say what's right even when it is scary," Lawrence said.
The movie, in the sci-fi space, is based on Suzanne Collin's adventure series of the same name. Lawrence, who shares the screen with Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth in first series, will work with Sam Claflin in the second part.
It releases in India Nov 29 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
