Dispose of pension cases, collectors told

BHUBANESWAR: Expressing concern over high pendency, the Women and Child Development  Department has asked all Collectors to ensure expeditious sanction of pending pension cases. The Department stated that a number of pension cases under different schemes are found to be pending for sanction and the matter has come to the notice of the State Government. Commissioner-cum-Secretary Arati Ahuja, in a letter to the Collectors, has said that pension cases under Madhu Babu Pension Yojna, Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension and Indira Gandhi National Disabled Pension are awaiting sanction from the Sub- Collectors concerned. This pendency, she said, is causing a delay in disbursal to the eligible beneficiaries. Ahuja has directed the Collectors to review the status of the cases immediately and issue instruction to the Sub-Collectors to sanction the pension within a fortnight. She has also asked for an action taken report on the matter.
