The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) has submitted the draft National Entrepreneurship Policy before the Government of India. The move is in accordance with the recommendations of Sam Pitroda over the constitution of a policy for the development of entrepreneurship in the country.

The proposed policy looks at creating awareness about the charms of becoming an entrepreneur who is independent and creates jobs for himself and others as against those who look at ‘a job with a secure future’.

On the other side the policy also takes into account the fact that persons with high entrepreneurship ability are often discouraged by lack of availability and access to information on setting up and operating a business, shortage of adequate networks and mentoring support, limited access to technology, lack of funds for start-ups and innovations and dearth of supportive systems.

In order to further deliberate upon the draft, the EDII is planning to hold consultative meets in 14 major cities, wherein in all the concerned experts and institutes will be invited.
