WARANGAL: The High Court's directive to the CBI to probe the alleged illegal arrest and custodial torture of Kakatiya University research scholar and Telangana activist Yakub Reddy has been welcomed by the victim himself, political parties and the public alike.
Speaking to Express, Yakub Reddy alleged that the then DSP, Venkat Narsaiah, had threatened to kill him in an encounter apart from hurting his private parts. "For following the orders of the minister and torturing me illegally, Venkat Narsaiah has been rewarded with a plum post in Hyderabad," he said and expressed confidence that he would get justice and the culprits punishment. Politicians and police were resorting to crimes on the public under the guise of maintaining law and order, he said. "Currently, my health is deteriorating as I am suffering from kidneyrelated problems. Whatever may happen to me, I will not relax till the culprit officers are punished," Yakub Reddy added.
