THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: “Nobody is willing to forgo an inch of land for the development of roads these days. As a result road development has not  progressed whilst the number of vehicles is increasing day by day,”  said K Muraleedharan MLA. He was speaking at the inaugural of the screening of the short film ‘End of Journey’ (Oru Yathrayude Anthyam), a short film on road safety, at the Press Club here on Monday.   He said that in Kerala the situation is such that a person must learn ‘driving as well as circus’ if he is to use the vehicle on the road. “In the midst of rash driving by private buses to overtake each other, other people’s lives are put at risk,” he said.  Innocent children are also increasingly becoming victims of road accidents these days. He appreciated the boldness of those who ventured to make the film. The function was presided over by George Onakkoor. Transport Commissioner T P Senkumar and film director Nemom Pushparaj were the chief guests.  The film which is only 18 minutes-long, is directed by Riju Nair. Former Transport Minister Jose Thettayil has also played a role in the film. The film was premiered on the sidelines of the National Road Safety week.
