New Delhi: Tiger Woods gave himself a perfect warm-up for next week's PGA Championship by romping to an eight-shot victory at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Sunday.
The World No. 1 fired a five-under par 65 at a wet Firestone Country Club to clinch his 58th PGA Tour title. Woods finished at eight-under 272, the only player in the 82-strong field under par.
"You couldn't get off to an any better start than I did today. I was one back and, you know, everyone in our group birdied the first hole but I was four-under through five and was just probably the ideal start, especially under these conditions," Woods said after his victory.
"I just figured that if I would've just kept the card clean, no bogeys for the rest of the day, that I'd put a lot of heat on the guys, 'So, come get me'," Woods added.
