Five militants killed in Indo-Pak border

Srinagar: Security forces shot dead five militants in Machil sector of Jammu and Kashmir foiling an infiltration bid along the Indo-Pak border on Tuesday, Defence sources said.

Troops guarding the border noticed a group of 12 militants trying to infiltrate from across the border in Machil sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara district last night, the sources said.

They said that the militants were challenged soon after they entered into the Indian Territory and in the ensuing gun battle five of them were killed.

The bodies of the deceased militants were recovered by the troops this morning, while the search for other militants was continuing, the sources said.
