HYDERABAD: PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana has written to the chief minister and the party high command to take steps for referring the probe into liquor syndicates to the CBI, apparently with the intention of warding off criticism that he has a vested interest in liquor trade. The PCC president, who wrote the letters three days ago, pointed out that it would be in the fitness of things if the case is referred to the CBI so that the investigation agency could get to the bottom of the case and find out who the culprits are.He said he wrote the letters since the information that came out through the media was incomplete and sketchy. Though the ACB has raided the offices of liquor syndicates from where it obtained data containing the names of excise officials and politicians, no name had come out, which made public imagination run wild.Satyanarayana is understood to have said if the CBI is given the probe, the party and the government would be in the clear that it was trying to shield politicos involved in the scam. Interestingly, it was Botcha Satyanarayana who is facing flak from the Opposition TDP that he has interests in liquor business.
