GIS mapping for TANGEDCO plaints

CHENNAI: In an effort to quickly process and redress the grievances of consumers, the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) on Thursday announced that it would store all relevant details of consumers, including power load pattern, through the Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping.The GIS initiative would be taken up in the Chennai central circle as part of the Central government’s Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (RAPDRP), an official release stated.“Navayuga Infotech Private Limited will conduct a survey in all the consumer premises of the Chennai Central circle for preparing the consumer electrical index,” the corporation said.Details such as name, address, contact numbers, email id, service and connection information would be gathered from all the consumers and recorded using GIS mapping.“This will help process all consumer complaints faster,” the release stated.TANGEDCO has requested consumers to provide necessary details after checking the identification cards of the field personnel of Navayuga Infotech, issued by the Central Electricity Distribution Circle (Chennai).
