Good rainfall likely next week: Met department

HYDERABAD: It would take at least another week for good rainfall that would be favourable for farmers for cultivation, the meteorological department officials said. The showery weather conditions would prevail in many parts of the state as a trough has been formed between Orissa and South Tamil Nadu over Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh. The south west monsoon arrived in the state one week in advance but lost its momentum after a good initial start. It rained heavily during the first five days of the monsoon but the past one month saw no rain. The break in monsoon has increased the worries of farmers who fear their crops may suffer for want of irrigation. However, officials concerned are still hopeful of a good rainfall in the coming weeks.
