Understanding of god
Our thinking and logic work on the basis of cause and effect. Any effect must have a cause. If you start analysing things, you reach a point beyond which you have to admit that time, space, energy could not have been created by themselves. It is this mystery - that something could not have been created out of nothing that made me believe that there is god.
Spiritual practices and religious beliefs
I don’t go for the mass because I find it too ritualistic and meaningless. I prefer going to church when no one is around, just to find some quiet time to converse with god.
Take on meditation
I have been practising Tai Chi for the past 10 years. This is a form of moving meditation that takes around 20 minutes and I feel calmer and ready to face the day after doing meditation.
Faith in miracles
I lost both my parents in 2001. The engineering industry too was in doldrums during that period. We had three factories and hundreds of workers idling without work. I used to spend sleepless nights asking god why he had put me in such a terrible situation. Keeping the factory running was itself a nightmare. However, in another 10 years, our turnover doubled and we made huge monthly profit, much higher than our yearly turnover prior to 2001.
To be honest, I had absolutely nothing to do with the profit we gained. God had put me in the right place at the right time and I was fortunate to meet the right people at the right time. Looking back, that was indeed a great miracle.
Favourite pilgrimage spots
I go to the Velankanni church in Besant Nagar every day. I go in the afternoons when there are not too many people around, to sit quietly and have my daily interaction with god.
