HM booked over students death

VELLORE:  Police charged six persons on Wednesday with cremating the body of a schoolgirl without informing them. Renuka, a Class X student in a private school in Gajalnayakanpatti here, was reported missing on March 17.She did not return home after going to school in the morning. A day later, her body was found in a grove near the school. Though the Kanthili police were informed of her death, her family is believed to have quickly recovered her body and cremated it. A group called the Farmers Liberation Front staged a protest, calling attention to the issue. J G Gunasekaran from Thokkiyam village placed a complaint with the Kanthili police on Wednesday, demanding action  against the family for destroying the remains of the girl, before an investigation. Police registered a case under Indian Penal Code section 176, against some members of Renuka’s family and the headmaster of Renuka’s school, Sukumar. Investigations are going on. Youth Killed in Bike-Van CollisionDayalan (25) was killed when the bike he was riding along with three of his friends collided with a van near Keelchettipattu near Than­darambut on Wednesday. He and his friends Kanagaraj (27), Venkatesan (29) and Rajesh (25) were returning from a temple in Melmalaiyanur. Dayalan was killed on the spot while the others were admitted at the Tiruvannamalai Government Hospital and shifted to the Chennai Government Hospital on Thursday. Thandarambut Police have registered the accident.Pregnant woman feared kidnappedA day after a pregnant woman was reported missing by her husband, police suspect an auto driver of having abducted her. Saranya (20) and Sundarrajan (23), also an auto driver, had been married for three years and she was four months pregnant when she went missing. After her husband found that she did not arrive at her parent’s home in Arcot he scoured the area, but in vain.He placed a complaint with the Arcot taluk police. On Thursday police sources said that they suspected Velu, an auto driver from Arcot, of having kidnapped her for personal reasons. A hunt has been launched for both persons.
