Lucknow: A day after police inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was killed during clashes following cow slaughter rumours in Bulandshahr, his son pleaded not to spread hatred in the name of religion.
After performing the last rites of his father on Tuesday, Abhishek Singh said: “I have lost my father, but how many more lives will be taken in the name of religion? Kindly do not spread hatred in the name of religion." He also said that his father never differentiated in the name of religion.
Subodh Kumar was the investigation officer in the Akhlaq lynching case from September 25, 2015 to November 9, 2015. Kumar’s uncle Ram Avtar Singh has alleged that Subodh was killed as he was associated with the investigation in the Akhlaq lynching case.
He had served in Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur areas of Uttar Pradesh as well, said his uncle.
According to late Subodh Kumar’s wife, Rajini SIngh, there were two occasions in the past when he survived bullet injuries.
Demanding justice for her husband, Rajini said that the guilty should be dealt with sternly. “Justice should be given to him by shooting down those who killed my husband. My husband had suffered bullet injuries earlier also but he survived twice. However, this time he was not so lucky," she said.
Hailing from Etah district, Kumar is survived by two sons. Kumar’s friends and colleagues remember him as a polite person. “He was always ready to help people. He used to discuss current changes and job challenges in the police department," said Surendra Singh, a close friend of Subodh Kumar.
