Mumbai: Actor Aamir Khan on Wednesday said he accepted a court order transferring his younger brother Faisal Khan’s custody to their father and promised he would always stand by Faisal.
Faisal, who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, has accused Aamir of mistreating him. The Bandra Metropolitan Court in Mumbai on Wednesday granted Faisal’s custody to his father Tahir Hussain for a month.
Faisal, a failed actor, accuses Aamir of forcefully medicating him and not helping help. “Aamir is the naalayak (worthless) son of the family. He has forgotten his father’s sacrifices. I will knock on all doors and ensure justice is done,” Faisal told CNN-IBN.
Aamir denied the charges and said: “For the last two and a half years, I have looked after the treatment of my brother Faisal Khan, to the best of my ability and on the advice of respected doctors whom I trust implicitly.”
In a press statement, he said: “I have always wanted the best for my brother and care for him deeply. The Head of Department of Psychiatry, J J Hospital, has concluded that Faisal is ill and needs to be in the custodial care of a responsible family member.”
“I expressed to the court that I would like to take on that responsibility along with the support of my mother and sisters. The Hon'ble Court has granted custody to my father, and I respect the order.”
“I hope that my father will take care of Faisal and fulfill the responsibility the court has entrusted him with. I wish Faisal all the best for the future, and I want him to know that I am always there for him,” he said.
Tahir Hussain, who was speaking after the court order, said he can take care of Faisal “very well” and accused Aamir of forcibly treating his brother when it was not required.
