Ahmedabad: Premier B-School, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) is organising a conclave of recruiters in Mumbai on Wednesday to finalise the change in campus placement process, ahead of the final placements session this year.
IIM-A has decided to change the campus placement process to suit the recruiters, IIM-A placement committee head Dr Saral Mukherjee said.
"We have kept a meeting with the top recruiters in Mumbai tomorrow and would know their views on campus placement process," Mukherjee added.
"We shall be deciding the change in campus placement process latest by February end or beginning of March, after the conclave of recruiters being organised by IIM-A in Mumbai tomorrow," Samir Barua, Director IIM-A, said.
The final placement process at IIM-A is scheduled to begin by February end or first week of March this year, he added.
A change in 'Slot Zero' duration, the prime slot of placement session at IIM-A is likely to be made, post the feedback from recruiters, official sources said.
The idea is to provide more time for interaction between the recruiters and students so that they can discuss the roles on offer in length, they added.
"Our objective is to ensure that all the stakeholders in the process of campus recruitment are familiar with the proposed changes, and recruiters can be made co-creators of this new design," Mukherjee said.
The placement committee for the last one year has been constantly in dialogue with the recruiters and now we shall be giving final touches to the new design based on the feedback from them, he added.
Usually the placement process at IIM-A is a five-day affair, IIM-A sources said.
However, the placement process, which started from February 25 in 2009, continued for nine days instead of usual five days due to the effect of global slowdown.
The global slowdown had a negative impact on the IIM-A placements in 2009 as the average salaries offered to IIM-A students declined by 25 per cent as compared to the offers coming their way in year 2008, sources said.
