New Delhi: Indraprastha University will soon have a separate East Campus in Surajmal Vihar area with the Delhi government clearing hurdles to start construction work for it on an 18-acre plot in east Delhi.
"All hurdles coming in the way to have an east campus of IP university have been cleared. The construction work will start soon," an official of Delhi government said of the project, which had been stuck for many years.
East Delhi MP Maheish Girri claimed that he took up the matter with L-G Najeeb Jung, following which the project was cleared.
"I am happy, I have been able to work towards setting up of the east campus, despite the odds of the previous government. We have already roped in a team of architects and deployed a project management for the development of the campus," Girri said.
The campus, which will come up on an 18.75 acre land, will benefit thousands of students who reside in East Delhi and nearby areas.
Girri further said that IP University, which was established by Delhi government, also intends to house Indian Institute of Information and Technology in the East Campus.
The IP University's state-of-the-art main campus, spread over an area of more than 60 acres, is located at Sector 16-C Dwarka.
