Jayalalithaa expels 217 rebel functionaries

CHENNAI: Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Friday expelled 217 party functionaries from the districts of Kancheepuram, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Cuddalore, Salem, Coimbatore, Nilgris, Madurai, Tiruchy, Erode, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli for anti-party activities.Giving the list of 217 funcitonaries, the AIADMK leader said that during the elections to the local bodies, they had acted against the principles of the party and that the cadre of the party should not have any contact with them. Already, during the past three days, many such functionaries have been expelled from the AIADMK.
