Jammu: Pakistani troops on Friday violated ceasefire by firing on BSF posts along the international border in Samba sector. One civilian has been killed in the firing and two have been injured.
"At about 1705 hours, Pakistan Rangers started unprovoked firing, targeting BSF Naka mound and civil Labourer in the Samba sector, who were carrying out construction work of culvert well inside the Indian territory," a BSF spokesman said.
The BSF gave a befitting reply to the Pakistani firing, he said, adding the exchange of fire stopped at 1730 hours.
As per initial reports, three civilians working on the construction of the culvert received bullet injuries, the BSF spokesman said.
Police said one of the injured died on way to the hospital where the other injured were undergoing treatment.
"One of the injured has succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital. The other injured are undergoing treatment at district hospital Samba. We are yet to ascertain the identity of the deceased," SSP Samba Joginder Singh said.
