Kanhaiya didn't shout anti-India slogans, we want CBI to probe, say parents
Speaking exclusively to CNN-IBN, parents of JNUSU president said that their son didn't shout anti-India slogans. The kin also demanded a CBI probe into the incident.

Begusarai: Family of Kanhaiya Kumar, the JNU student leader booked in a sedition case, has called for a CBI probe saying the arrest is a result of political vendetta.

While speaking to CNN-IBN on Friday at their home in Bihar's Begusarai, Kanhaiya's father Jaishankar Singh claimed there was no proof against his son in the sedition case.

"RSS and BJP is doing all this. My son is innocent. RSS and BJP conspiring to kill my son," he said.

Singh said the video played on some channels which showed Kanhaiya raising anti-India slogans was not genuine.

"Kanhaiya was arrested because he is seen with Umar Khalid", said his father referring to another student who is on the run after being named in the sedition case.

Pushing for a CBI probe in the case he said, "CBI should investigate the matter and find out who was chanting anti-national slogans."

Kanhaiya was arrested after anti-India slogans were allegedly raised at an event held in the JNU campus honouring Parliament attacker Afzal Guru.

Kanhaiya's brother said the family is under fear and it was their wish that the guilty should be identified and punished.

Their mother too alleged that Kanhaiya has been framed. "Raising anti-India slogans are wrong but Kanhaiya is innocent", she added.
