Kannada actor taken to police station, flees

BANGALORE: Kannada actor Prashanth, who was seen  in lead roles in 'Orata', 'I Love You' and 'Venki', allegedly escaped from Sanjaynagar police station after his wife had brought him to the station on Monday evening.His wife Shashirekha had filed a case against him at Halasur Gate Women’s police station recently,  following alleged dowry harassment and forcing her to sign on divorce papers.The actor had been allegedly absconding since the complaint was filed.According to police sources, Shashirekha learnt on Monday evening that her husband was staying along with a woman in a flat in Dollar’s Colony and she went there to meet him.She managed to take him to Sanjaynagar police station and then requested the police to arrest him. But, the police asked them to go to Halasur Gate Women’s police station as the case was registered there.In the meantime, Prashanth managed to give a slip to the police personnel and his wife and escaped. However, official sources denied the incident and said that Prashanth or his wife had not come to the station.Prashanth and Shashirekha had married eight years ago, after they fell in love while studying in Adarsha Film Institute.
