HYDERABAD: Citing an increase in the number of white ration cards, the state government on Wednesday issued an order reducing the allocation of kerosene to BPL card holders in municipal corporations and municipalities/mandal headquarters by one litre. However, there is no change in allocation of kerosene for white ration card holders in rural areas and also LPG connection holders. The order will come into force from November. According to officials, BPL cardholders in municipal corporations will get 4 litres of kerosene (5 litres earlier) henceforth. The supply of kerosene to the card holders in municipalities and mandal headquarters will be reduced to 2 litres from 3 litres. BPL card holders in rural areas will get 2 litres. There will be no change in supply of 1 litre kerosene to holders of LPG/Deepam connections. The government said it was forced to reduce the allocation keeping in view the limited stock of kerosene being supplied by the Central government. “With a view to keep uniformity in the scale of distribution and also make kerosene available to all BPL card holders in the state, the supply has been reduced. However, it will have little impact on white ration card holders in rural areas who constitute the maximum number of BPL card holders in the state,” said a senior officer in the state Civil Supplies Department.
