BANGALORE: With hectic work schedules and fast-paced lifestyles, parents nowadays find precious little time to spend with their children. On May 18, Yahoo India had ‘Bring your kids to work’ day. Around 600 children, between years of age 2 and 12, accompanied their parents to the office for a day of fun and games and enjoyed the exciting activities that were scheduled. The activities that were organised included face painting, hair braiding, balloon crafting and treasure hunt. There was also a special demonstration by Rob, the anchor of MAD show on Pogo who showed the kids how to recycle waste into beautiful craft items. The demonstration was a big hit as both parents and children patiently sat trying their hand at the craft exercises. However, Eswar (10) and Param (9) preferred to spend their time with the Xbox and were impatient to know where the foosball tables were located. Both kids enjoyed themselves tremendously and said they looked forward to this day every year. Pushpalee, who had brought her three-year-old daughter Tara along, narrated how her daughter had been dreaming about the day for weeks. Unni Aravindakshan, senior director — Service Engineering, whose family is based in Chennai said that this was the first time he had managed to get his kids along. He looked delighted to be able to be with his children, even though he had a meeting scheduled for later. “We plan our meetings around this time so that we can balance both work and the children,” he said. His four-year-old daughter Ridhi shyly stretched her arms out wide when asked how much fun she was having. The goodie bags for the kids, as well as the popcorn and candy stalls ensured that the kids had a blast! The company holds this day as an employee engagement activity and it seems to be a hot favourite with the employees. Shouvick Mukherjee, CEO of Yahoo India (R&D), who had brought his son along said that this day, which is held annually, is for employees to integrate their work and family life. “We are basically a big family,” he said.
