KOCHI: PWD Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju has said that Kochi would get four flyovers at a cost of Rs 1,158 crore. The flyovers are being planned at Edappally, Palarivattom, Vyttila and Kundanoor junctions, he said. The flyovers will be completed within three years once they  get approval, Ebrahim Kunju said at a meeting convened to announce the plan.A feasibility study has been conducted by the National Highways Authority of India in this respect. The state government would seek a grant from the Centre to build the flyovers.The cost of the flyover at Edappally is estimated at Rs 706.09 crore. The estimated cost of the Palarivattom flyover is Rs 110.03 crore, that of Vyttila Rs 251.22 crore and Kundanoor Rs 90.84 crore.At Vyttila, the six-lane flyover is planned in four tiers. A four-lane flyover would connect Sahodaran Ayyappan road to Tripunithura. The top tier would be for the Metro rail.At Edappally, the flyover is proposed to start from Edappally Toll through Marottichuvadu, ending near the Oberon Mall. A four-lane flyover is proposed over the existing four lane road.Another four-lane flyover would be on the Palarivattom-Kakkanad Road. At Kundanoor Junction, the plan is to build a six-lane flyover, which could ease traffic on NH 49.MLAs Benny Behanan, Dominic Presentation, Hibi Eden, Mayor Tony Chammany, Deputy Mayor Bhadra Satish, Kalamassery municipal chairman Jamal Manakkadan were among those present at the meeting.
