KOCHI: The factional feud in the Kerala Students Union, Ernakulam district, continued to play spoil sport with a majority of the members boycotting the general body meeting called on Thursday for finalising the matters pertaining to the district convention. However, the KSU office-bearers said there was good participation at the general body meeting. Most of the leaders, including NSUI delegate K M Sharafunisa and KSU state secretary P Y Shajahan kept away from the meet in protest against the delay in taking action against those who assaulted former Maharaja’s College chairman A A Ajmal and unit president Nisam PS.When the leaders who boycotted the meeting claimed that only 28 people had participated in the meet, KSU district president Tito Antony claimed that 63 members were present. He said: “Only unit presidents were invited to the meeting and all of them participated. The district convention is to be held in May.”Meanwhile those who boycotted the meeting alleged that the 28 members who were present at the meet were not students. They also stated that nine of the district committee members stayed away from the general body and only the president was present. The KSU district committee meeting that was called earlier this month was scrapped for lack of quorum. A total of seven members from the A group and the V D Satheeshan group opted out of the meeting. Ajmal and Nisam have complained to the party leaders against Titu Antony and state secretary Abdul Sabeer for attacking them.
