BERHAMPUR: Tension prevailed in the paediatric ward in the MKCG Medical College and Hospital when a doctor ‘mistakenly’ declared a live infant dead.On Friday, Bishnupriya Swain of Padmapur village under Soroda block had admitted her 19-day-old baby in the Medical after the child developed some health complications.Early on Saturday morning, when she approached a doctor in the ward, the doctor declared the baby dead and asked her to take the child away from the hospital.Hapless, Bishnupriya approached another doctor who said the infant was alive. Receiving information, the enraged relatives of Bishnupriya gheraoed the MKCG pediatric ward demanding action against the errant doctor. However, the doctor managed to flee before the situation flared up. No case has been registered yet.
