London: One more person was on Monday arrested in Lt General KS Brar attack case in London. A 27-year-old youth was arrested in connection with the case and remanded to police custody. With this arrest, the total number of people in police custody in the case has gone up to three.
This comes even as two other people, who have been charged with the attack have been denied bail and have been remanded to police custody. The accused are slated to appear before the Southwark Crown court on December 7.
Earlier on Monday, the charge in the attack on Lt General (Retired) Kuldip Singh Brar was downgraded from 'attempt to murder' to 'intent to cause grievous bodily harm'. The charge has been downgraded since the injuries were not life threatening. Two men have been charged in the case. One of them also charged with common assault on Lt Gen Brar's wife.
Lt gen Brar, who had led 'Operation Blue Star' in 1984 to flush out terrorists from the Golden Temple, was stabbed in an attack by four unidentified men in Old Quebec Street near Oxford Street in London last week. Following the attack, he was taken to hospital with a neck wound and has since been discharged.
Brar was on a private visit when he was attacked by the four men, suspected to be Khalistan sympathisers. Brar's wife, who was present at the time of the attack, was not injured. The four men who attacked Brar were described as being of Asian appearance, all with long beards, and were wearing dark clothing and long black jackets.
