NAMAKKAL: A tripartite talks will be held in Chennai on Thursday to find an amicable settlement to the issue of inducting new tankers for moving the cooking gas as the indefinite strike of the bulk LPG tanker operators entered the sixth day on Wednesday. Informing this after a meeting of the Southern Region Bulk LPG Transport Owners Association (SRBLTOA) here on Wednesday, its president M Ponnamabalam said that the talks would be held at the office of the Commissioner of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection at Chepauk in Chennai on Thursday evening.The Commissioner and representatives of the oil companies along with a delegation of the striking LPG tanker operators will take part in the talks.It may be noted that the tanker operators started the indefinite strike from the midnight of January 12 protesting against the oil companies which were said to have refused to induct an additional fleet of 600 vehicles for a period of next three years.Earlier the striking LPG tanker operators had sought Centre’s intervention to find an amicable settlement on the issue. Talking to Express here on Monday, Secretary of the Southern Region Bulk LPG Transport Owners Association N R Karthick had charged the oil companies with adopting adamant stand.
