M K Ali to be handed over to NIA

KOCHI: The CBI Special Court has remanded M K Ali, Karimberapadi, Kunjunnikara, Aluva, who was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the hand-chopping case. The court also ordered to hand over the accused in NIA custody for evidence collection for three days from July 25.

The NIA had submitted that the custody of the accused was essential to trace the the hideouts of the other accused and interrogation was needed for collecting further details into the crime.

According to NIA, Ali was involved in the crime. He had also threatened TJ Joseph before the latter’s palm was chopped off by a group of people on July 4, 2010. Ali is the 28th accused nabbed by the NIA and 265 more are to be arrested.
