Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Thursday said that to ensure state's leading position in the country, the government will stress on the five-point programme which includes balanced industrial development.
The plan includes balanced industrial development, planned urbanisation, improving the quality of education and rain-fed agriculture and steps to make the state drought-free.
The Chief Minister was speaking after unfurling the Tricolour at Mantralaya in Mumbai on the occasion of the 67th Independence Day.
"We should remember the sacrifice made by martyrs and freedom fighters and make all efforts to take the country to greater heights," Chavan said.
This Independence Day comes a day after the naval submarine 'INS Sindhurakshak' tragedy, Chavan said, and assured all help to Navy from the state government.
"Our government is making efforts to provide sufficient and continuous electricity for industrial and agricultural use," he said.
