West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday paid tribute to Mother Teresa on her 103rd birth anniversary at a programme at the state secretariat.
"In today's world, when we see so much of sufferings still around, we must resolve to rededicate ourselves to the ideals of the Mother to wipe out tears and embrace the suffering souls with love and warmth," Banerjee, who garlanded a photo of the Mother at Writers' Buildings, said.
Banerjee said "Mother was the apostle of peace, brotherhood and service to humanity, particularly the uncared for and the poorest of the poor. Her life and her works epitomise selfless service to the suffering millions." Superior General of the Missionaries of Charity Sister Prema, nuns and children were present on the occasion.
