VISAKHAPATNAM: Police on Friday arrested one Bandal Apparao (28) who allegedly killed two children by throwing them into a well at Gopalapatnam recently. Tension prevailed for some time in front of the Gopalapatnam police station, when residents of Old Gopalapatnam area and women activists of various political parties staged a protest demanding severe punishment for the accused. Police said he would be produced before the court on Saturday.Talking to media, assistant commissioner of police (ACP), North, B Prasada Rao said Apparao had killed two-year-old girl, Sindhuja, on November 18 and eleven-month-old boy V Akash on December 14 this year by throwing them into two separate wells at Old Gopalapatnam area in the city.Police said Apparao, an alcoholic, turned into a psycho after many girls refused to marry him and started targeting happy families.Apparao killed Sindhuja by throwing her into a well close to her residence at Old Gopalapatnam on November 18. However, locals then had suspected that the girl had accidentally fallen into the well while playing.When Akash went missing from his cradle and was later found dead in a well on December 14, locals lodged a complaint at Gopalapatnam police station.Speaking to media, Apparao confessed that he had killed the infants under the influence of alcohol. He admitted he was frustrated that girls turned him down while his friends and relatives had tied the knot.
