Delhi police on Sunday arrested a youth for allegedly making a series of hoax bomb calls in Capital.

New Delhi: Delhi police on Sunday arrested a youth for allegedly making a series of hoax phone calls claiming that explosives have been planted at various places in the Capital.

Eighteen-year-old Shadaab was nabbed in the wee hours of Sunday morning from Welcome locality of in north-east Delhi after police got information that he had been making the phone calls from a stolen mobile phone.

According to police, Shadaab had made three phone calls between 0000 hours and 0100 hours on Friday from the number 9312451668 to the police control room claiming that bombs were planted at Akshardham temple, Gurudwara Sisgang and PVR Plaza multiplex in Connaught Place.

A tailor by profession, Shadaab was arrested after his friend informed police about his activities. The phone was owned by a person in Faridabad, who had informed police that he lost the set in Welcome area.

Police were interrogating whether Shadaab had made Saturday’s India Gate bomb call.

Through Thursday and Friday, Delhi Police received a series of phone calls of bombs being planted across the city’s major landmarks

However, extensive searches carried out by them turned out to be futile from prompting them to launch a manhunt to nab the person behind it.
