THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An enraged Mayor K Chandrika who lashed out at the State Government for not giving her the right to appoint her Personal Assistant (PA), sounded a subdued person when it came to moving court against the Government over the garbage issue. In a perfect U-turn, she said that the Corporation would ‘wait’ before taking any extreme action as the Government has promised help. The transportation of machinery to Vilappilsala waste treatment plant has been okayed by the Government, so why not wait, seemed to be her stand. Only a week earlier, the Council, after much pandemonium, had approved a resolution to move court against the Government for contempt of court. The High Court and the Supreme Court had asked the Government to open the Vilappilsala plant. When asked if it could be possible to deviate from the Council decision, the Mayor said that since the Government was offering help, there was no need to go against it.  In a press meet here on Tuesday, she sounded optimistic and even took the Government’s side in the proposal to use garbage for railway platform construction. ‘’It is not a permanent solution, but the government is viewing it as a temporary solution to help us,’’ she said.
